These keto-friendly sweets are made with 100% stone ground sesame seeds or “Tahini”. Tahini, a common food in the eastern Mediterranean region is widely used more notably in Chinese and South East Asian cuisine. When I set out to somewhat mirror the popular “Peanut Butter Fat Bombs” I knew I would need to find a suitable substitute and replacement for the “peanut butter” and would yield a nutty flavor. I immediately thought of sesame seeds as I’m a fan of them and use them in some of vegetable dishes. The main characters in Sweetopia®’s Terrific Tahini & Chocolate bombs are Tahini, cream cheese and dark chocolate.It all begins with a gentle blending of Tahini and Neufchatel cream cheese, (a lighter and creamier sibling to the standard Philadelphia style cream cheese), a generous portion of smooth, melted dark chocolate (I use Lily’s all natural dark chocolate) and a wee pinch of cinnamon that ever-so-gently kicks it up a notch. It’s thoroughly mixed and formed into balls and chilled. Once chilled the balls are either dusted with all natural unsweet cocoa or unsweetened coconut flecks with the end result truly being “the bomb”. Sink one of these walnut-sized gems into your mouth and you’ll experience the subtleness of a smooth, creamy, slightly nutty and lightly sweet treat that will satisfy your craving for something sweet and chocolatey without being over obvious.
