This Italian based pastry (Zeppole di San Giuseppe)is made to the same standards as all of my sweets (always gluten-free, nut-free, preservative-free & dye-free) takes its name from the patriarch St. Joseph, and is a tradition that dates back to the 1800's in Italy of making and enjoying these on the 19th of March every year both in Italy and here in America (The Feast of St. Joseph). These light puff pastry style bases (~ 3" round) are filled with a heavenly, creamy vanilla custard and topped with a the dollop of my morello cherry compote. This can also be made dairy-free. So if you want to kick your desserts at your next dinner party or gathering, or an afternoon tea with friends, give these a try. You won't be disappointed!
