This whimsically named all natural, GF & nut-free cookie with German-based roots is a semi-crisp sugar style cookie that is rolled in Saigon sweet cinnamon sugar before it goes in the oven for baking. What makes the cookie unique, besides it name with the literal translation of "snailnoodles", is the cream of tartar ingredient. You say, what the heck is cream of tartar? It is a byproduct of the winemaking process or tartaric acid, that forms on the inside of wine barrels during the fermentation process and a naturally occurring substance in grapes. It acts as a preservative for the wine. So, while sugar cookies and snickerdoodle cookies share a lot of the same basic ingredients, the one key ingredient to the snickerdoodle is the cream of tartar. This gives the cookie the signature "tang" and perfect chewiness.They are light to the palate and satisfying for a pick-me-up anytime and for breakfast (in the Marcus household). I use this GF & nut-free cookie in my Bashful Banana & White Chocolate cheesecake. Cookies are sold in one (1) dozen lot.
