So what makes bread so special? There's just something special that happens when you bite into a warm roll, a slice of bread or a wedge of soda bread and slather it with a schmear of French butter with sea salt, wildflower honey, homemade jam or your choice of schmear) as it truly is an experience worth repeating over and over!
Did you know...the Irish soda bread, most notably attributed to Ireland, was actually first created by Native Americans. This simple Irish classic and a staple in many Irish households began back in the 1830's when baking soda was introduced to the country and has since become very popular on this side of the pond. Irish Soda Bread is that - bread with soda or bicarbonate of soda "baking soda" in it along with a few other staple ingredients (egg, butter, sea salt, sugar, Sweetopia's(r) hand-mixed gluten-free flour blend, raisins and buttermilk. Shaped round with a cross cut on the top of the bread . Legend has it this was done for superstitious reasons, as families believed a cross on top of the bread would ward off evil and protect the household. There's nothing fancy about the bread....just darn good. Served plain, with butter, lemon curd, jam and butter . Nothing better than a wedge of Irish Soda Bread and a cup of your favorite hot beverage.
Bread is sold as one 6" round loaf. Not typically stocked so I need 3-4 business days notice from time of order to pick-up.
